Tonight, Wolf Blitzer and CNN called them; Eagles of Dream Metal and Eagles of Death, following up with the description “a heavy metal band from America.”
So, Eagles of Death Metal, who are actually more of a spoof rock/desert rock band in genre, made world news.
But not because they made the big time.
EODM were the headlining band at The Bataclan Concert Hall in Paris tonight, when terrorists stormed the show, and opened fire while the band were performing on stage. Reports are currently that the gunmen killed at least 100 people inside the building. At least five other; thought to be coordinated attacks, occurred in Paris at the same time. Two were reportedly suicide bombings.
France has announced that it has closed its borders.
For several hours after the attacks, the whereabouts of the band was not known, but a Twitter account linked to band guitarist Dave Catching reported 45 minutes ago that; “while we are relieved to report that all members OF @EODMOfficial ARE SAFE, our hearts are broken for all victims and their families.”
Regular member and lead vocalist Jesse Hughes was travelling with the band, but his partner, drummer Josh Homme, also with Queens of the Stone Age, was not travelling with the band in France.
We wish the band, crew, their fans, the families of those lost, and those injured in this brutal and vicious attack in Paris, France tonight, our heartfelt regards.
