Niva Chow’s vocal has matured immensely since Hawk Vs. Pigeon was released some years ago.
Tones of elegance and sensuality have lusciously married with Chow’s very real air of “hey, listen up motherfucker!”
Race to the Bottom accentuates that maturity, while grabbing hold furiously to the alternative sound that has always made this band so easy on the ears.
Continuing to share the lead vocal to and fro with front her “Beloved” band mate Robert Higgins, Chow appears to be bringing it from the exact place that Belinda Carlise let it go with the last Go Go’s release.
That’s a fucking great place to be.
Higgins sounds gritty; he co-leads with stability and authority.
That’s a fucking great place to be.
Hard to talk over, even harder not to listen to over, and over; if this song is a taste of the new album Times Square Discount in it’s complete form, it needs dropping…and soon.
