“No one knows where intelligent life is”
Yes Soundgarden have Been Away Too Long. Fifteen long years to come close to the mark. Making live returns to the show circuit in 2010 and with an anticipated release date of November 13 2012, for the new cd King Animal all is now right and good in the world of Seattle Rock.
New single Been Away Too Long is more than you would expect. Matt Cameron is drumming up a complicated yet just right beat for this song. This is fast yet not too furious, it is banging, yet not booming and it is smooth yet not too simple.
Chris Cornells vocal is, well Chris Cornells vocal, however, it appears to have become a mellower, milder mix of screech than perhaps it once once. There is a soothing tone somewhere in the Soundgarden songbird.
If this is a sign of things to come then it will be more than worth your hard earned $15.

This morning, Dave Grohl wrote to fans via Facebook to explain his statement at a Boston show last weekend, when he said he was not sure when the band Foo Fighters would play again.
Here is what he wrote…….
Hey everyone…
Dave here. Just wanted to write and thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for another incredible year. (Our 18th, to be exact!) We truly never could have done any of this without you…
Never in my wildest dreams did I think Foo Fighters would make it this far. I never thought we COULD make it this far, to be honest. There were times when I didn’t think the band would survive. There were times when I wanted to give up. But… I can’t give up this band. And I never will. Because it’s not just a band to me. It’s my life. It’s my family. It’s my world.
But, no gold watches or vacations just yet… I’ll be focusing all of my energy on finishing up my Sound City documentary film and album for worldwide release in the very near future. A year in the making, it could be the biggest, most important project I’ve ever worked on. Get ready… it’s coming.
Me, Taylor, Nate, Pat, Chris, and Rami… I’m sure we’ll all see you out there… somewhere…
Thank you, thank you, thank you…
Dave
Rumours that started with an Australian radio station, who presumed a joint Pearl Jam, Soundgarden tour to take place in 2013 after the former issues a new album next year, are being denied by the Drummer of both bands. Matt Cameron told a Boston radio station, “After I play, like, I don’t know, two hours with Soundgarden, my day is done. I think when we did the PJ20 show, with Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, the lead vocalist for Soundgarden, came out to that and we played some Temple Of The Dog stuff and it was awesome. Maybe there might be a one-off where that could happen, but I’m not 25 anymore.”
Temple Of The Dog was a collaboration between the two bands, however only one cd was ever released, meaning not a lot of material for a tour!
Rumours were quashed just last week that Pearl Jam were set to play Download Festival at Donington in 2013.

In front of 60,000 fans this past weekend, in New York’s Central Park at the Global Citizen Festival, Dave Grohl announced that Foo Fighters had “no more shows after this. Honestly, I don’t know when we’re gonna do it again… and this is the perfect place to do it.”
Grohl, who was visibly shaken and overwhelmed at a performance with Foo Fighters at Wembley Stadium in England, is an accomplished musician who will not be sitting home bored. Perhaps Them Crooked Vultures, with whom Grohl is the drummer, will be making an appearance or two in the near future?
Whatever the future holds we can only hope it includes more FOO!
Playing out the show to Everlong, Grohl did say that the band would eventually be back……
