News just in over the interweb that former, and original Motorhead drummer Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor died yesterday, November 11th 2015.
Former band mate, guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke, let it be known via Twitter that “my dear friend and brother passed away last night. He had been ill for some time, but that does not make it any easier when the time finally comes.” Taylor was 61
Taylor was the drummer on Motorheads debut record; On Parole , and a further 10 records including; Bomber and Ace of Spades.
During Motorheads set at Download Festival, Castle Donington, England, in 2013, a very frail looking Taylor made an appearance, arm in arm with former band mate, and Motorhead frontman/bassist/founder Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister. He was greeted with clapping, cheering and roars of appreciation. Very obviously still a fan favorite.
Another former band mate Micheal “Wurzel” Burston also died at age 61, on July 11th 2011.
Motorhead frontman Lemmy, despite his forever ailing health, seems to be invincible and will likely live forever.
