It has been widely publicised in the past two days that Billie Joe Armstrong, front man and writer for Grammy award winners Green Day, has been admitted to rehab in connection with substance abuse issues. Many have said that this is a publicity stunt engineered to push sales of UNO, the new Green Day cd released today.
It is not known at this time when Green Day will resume with signings and appearences.
The following is an official announcement from the Green Day website
Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.

GREEN DAY FORCED TO CANCEL FREE BURBANK SHOW PLANNED FOR THIS FRIDAY
Los Angeles, CA – June 19th – Green Day regretfully announce that they have been forced to cancel the massive free show planned for this Friday in Burbank, CA.
Arrangements for this “secret” show were already under way, when permits needed for the show were denied by the city due to crowd control issues. The anticipated turnout was well into the thousands, and after monitoring the situation, fears were the number would dramatically swell and pose serious concern for safety of concert-goers once the location was made public.
