At the age of 18 or there about, even your parents are expecting you to be providing them with noise pollution in their basement, or garage for a year or two more and rolling out to the local bar once in a while to pick up loose chicks because you are in the local band.
Not these Beauties!
- St Albert, Alberta, band Naked Beauty is breaking ALL the rules.
After bagging an opening slot for The Cult recently, they were subsequently offered a spot opening for Collective Soul at Edmonton Events Centre. They grabbed the opportunity by both balls and by the balls of the bloke next to them.
What rookie musician wouldn’t cop a quick grope for such an opportunity?
Already with a good following, they recently entered a battle of the bands, held by 100.3 The Bear, in Edmonton. They got into the final round but didn’t win the competition. What they did win was more followers and a reputation for kicking it musically. The following increases daily there will soon be a bigger bevy of Naked Beauties rocking out all over Edmonton and beyond.
With song titles such as Cheeze Factory and Working Girl you may be mistaken for thinking this was some kind of Ron Jeremy and Jenna Jameson side project. You could not be more wrong. This is real rock n roll.
Guitarist, Brandon Yaggey told Headbangerwoman that three of the Gorgeous and Undressed are qualified Recording Engineers, “we are well aware of all the work that is involved in production of music. Myself, Justin Cruse; bass and Jim Stevens; Lead Vocal and guitar, each have our certification.”
Drummer Sean Waddingham is possibly certifiable, but he doesn’t need a piece of paper to tell him that. This guy takes technical to a whole different level and rumor has it that it is not just behind the drum kit. This multi-faceted musician apparently kicks ass with whatever instrument he gets his hands on! He proves it by wearing his Canadian Tuxedo with pride.
When asked about the experience opening for The Cult, Yaggey was still emotionally hyped. “It was just great. We didn’t get our free downloads finished until around 9pm, after we had already played. We took 60 shirts to sell and had two left at the end of the night. Then soon after, we were offered a gig opening for Collective Soul, its pretty surrreal!” Yaggey admits, it is still not a reality in their minds.
He can be assured that he can expect to see his band all over Edmonton in the near future. Who wouldn’t want to book the next big thing?
It hasn’t quite hit home that they have landed well and truly on their feet and Jimmy Choo is giving them free shoes!
