As an Editor, I try my hardest to view the subjects about which I write objectively. However there will always be that one odd little thing that will make me spit blood and rant and today that one little thing has reared it’s disfigured head. It is generally known as greed.
Allow me to elaborate. I sat at my computer this morning for over an hour awaiting the release of Pearl Jam tickets. My Daughter is a Ten club member and she is a crazed Pearl Jam fan and I was going to buy tickets to see Pearl Jam in Montana for her 13th birthday.
It was all planned. An 11 hour road trip the day before, a day in Missoula and then back home the next day. No easy feat, but well worth the look on her face.
I managed access to the ticket sales, but alas, tickets were sold out in 15 minutes. That was disheartening, but we can deal with a little disappointment. What however I will refuse to deal with is the scalping, thieving bastards that bought tickets, soley with the purpose of hiking the prices from $58 to $360 plus, in ads on EBay.
Genuine music fans, people who don’t make huge amounts of money and once in a lifetime attendees will now miss out on a chance to see a show that means so much to them.
It would not necessarily have had to have been Pearl Jam, it could have been Barry Manilow. It makes no difference. Music fans depend on their music, it is their lifes blood.
You are not stealing money you suited bastards, you are stealing life, education and one chance social experiences.
You are making the very people who attempt to stay accessible to the people who have put them in the position they are in, inaccessible and for that you should be tarred and feathered, egged, spat on, pissed on and punched in the balls.
You are greedy, unfeeling, conceited and arrogant, despicable and low. Of course because of the nature of such a beast you will not even blink at such words, you only care about the money.
I do not feel better for this rant, I merely wanted to expose you a little further to the general public and to further bring awareness of this daylight robbery, greed and corruption.
In closing, I would like to say that I spoke with a representative of the Ten Club (Pearl Jam) and she was super nice and understanding and offered guidance and options for me to follow up with.
Stand together music fans and you will be able to wipe out this revolting behaviour from these thieving rotten bastards. Maybe not this year, or even next, but it will happen and it will be well worth the wait.
