Within the keeping of our role as a music publication, there is often a greater need for other news.
Today saw the mindless murder of twenty very young lives and at least six older ones. As yet the reasoning behind this is unknown. What we do know however, is that music will be of comfort to some of those involved, a way to remember loved ones, a way to help and find reason as to why. A security blanket, an arm around the shoulders of those suffering the grief of the loss of a loved one.
What does not need to happen here is that a song, written with artistic intent by a perhaps controversial musician, becomes a focus of blame for this horror. We have seen this happen on several occasions previously. It is not the fault of music, musicians or music lovers.
It is the fault of the individual who went into an elementary school and selfishly, brutally gunned down and ended twenty six innocent lives.
If you are affected by this in any way we send out our deepest sympathy to you and your family.
If you can, use the music. It may just ease a little of the pain.
