There is no better kind of book, than one you are looking forward to reading.
Something well advertised, interesting, full of drama, Voodoo, Anal Sex, Crystal Meth and given to a little hype.
Dirty Rocker Boys; Love and Lust on the Sunset Strip, is just such a book!
The timing on the release of this Autobiographical piece is everything and after two years on the hit reality show Ex-Wives of Rock, Bobbie Jean Brown and her publishers Simon Schuster, have made the date for release with absolute precision. It is eagerly awaited by many and pre-order numbers are excitingly high; it is already in the Top 100 on at least three literary lists.
Inconsistency is not rife throughout the book, but it seems to make sense to point out that the use of the word fortnight, to describe a period of two weeks and the incorrect description of 80’s hair band Femme Fatale, who were not originally an all girl band, but were fronted by vocalist Lorraine Lewis, were probably not additions by Brown.
That aside, no-one but Brown could have possibly provided such descriptive content of her life. A tumultuous and torrid affair.
Bobbie Jean Brown is a southern belle, who initially made a name for herself as an American beauty queen. She travelled from small town USA, to Hollywood to pursue her dreams.
An instant hit in LA, she quickly became a pin up and a post pubescent boys wet dream, after being chosen to appear in many 80’s music videos.
Once Bitten Twice Shy; Great White
It was the age of MTV and everyone wanted to be or be with, Brown.
Linked with many attractive, rich and powerful men, Browns description of her lifes events, places and people of the day reveal shocking realities, bizarre and often selfish behaviours and sordid scenarios.
She is forthright to a fault and in sharing her story she has left herself wide open to criticism and commentary of a poisonous nature.
However, to criticize Brown for sharing this roller coaster ride, should be the last thing to happen at this point. Time, money and lives are precious and plenty have already been spent, wasted and ruined. It really is time to move on.
To become willing to air your dirty laundry in public, cannot an easy decision for anyone to make.
Brown has proven herself to be ballsy and in making the decision to share her story, she appears to have used the process of putting the story together and into print to help her find a good, healthy amount of inner peace.
Of course the book will make her money, but it is not money for old rope.
This is an honest, open and very descriptive life story. The many lives involved were, to a large degree considered public property. Here Brown is filling in the blanks and righting the wrongs and misconceptions, probably with less content than could have been included or desired.
Realizations and admissions of bad behaviors and insecurities not only by Brown, but of those involved with her, doubtless brought on many a lightbulb moment during the creative process. The school of life is often a harsh reality. Lessons are learned and we move onward and hopefully upward.
Brown was a fairly young celebrity. She was, still is, headstrong. She was also fairly naive and is still gifted with an extremely endearing childlike quality. Afforded her and those around her were things the less fortunate and less attractive could not even begin to believe existed.
She wasn’t the first casualty at the hands of the fame Monster; consider if you will Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Brittany Murphy and more recently Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.
Victims, not only of their own success, but at the hands of the greedy, jealous, insecure, or just downright insane.
Everyone loves a story of success. But it is well known that few who made it and lost it all, manage to claw back what they once had and lost. Horror stories ensue.
Dirty Rocker Boys didn’t start out as a Fairy Tale, it has many chapters from it’s very own House of Horror and the ending, really a matter of fate and conscious, fruitful and adult decisions on the part of Brown, will hopefully be a happy one.
Bobbie Brown is back on the ladder of success, a little older, a lot wiser and still hotter than hell. She is still climbing. Read her book, but don’t look up her skirt!

Vince Neil Talks Motley Crue Retirement And Hints At Solo Album
August 21, 2013
Rumors of Motley Crue retiring have been circulating for months now, but singer Vince Neil says “It’s definitely for real”.
“We want to go out on top,” Neil told The Oakland Press. “We don’t want to be one of those bands that people are like, ‘Oh, they’re playing a little club now’. We still sell out arenas and do stadium shows and stuff like that, and that’s how we want to be remembered.”
“It’s just time. Mick’s (Mars) health is not that good, and touring is tough on him. I’m sure in five, 10 years’ time we’ll probably do something together again, but it’s not gonna be like a KISS farewell to the farewell to the farewell tour. We’re not gonna be like that.”
Neil expects Motley Crue to make some more new music before it’s down, probably for the soundtrack of the still-developing film adaptation of the band’s collective memoir ‘The Dirt’. Meanwhile, Neil remains “constantly busy” and expects to have his next solo album, his first since 2010’s ‘Tattoos & Tequila’, in motion by the time the Crue packs it in.
“I’m planning to release something maybe before the end of the Motley run,” he says. “That way it would come out right toward the end of that, and I can just go straight from Motley and continue touring on that (solo album). That’s the idea now, at least. It’s a ways away, still.”

Saskatchewan, has long been the butt of idiot jokes, especially in Canada and on Saturday night, May 4 2013 at a Motley Crue show in Spectra Place, Estevan, SK, one particularly stupid concert attendee proved the point once again.
Rushing the stage and knocking over 62 year old guitarist Mick Mars, Mr stupid gig goer got less than he deserved when he was kicked while down, by bassist Nikki Sixx. The stupid stage diver was dragged off after a scuffle and Mars was picked up and helped off stage, along with the other three band members. As the band left the stage, the bands drummer, Tommy Lee asked (and rightly so) “What the fuck is wrong with you? You fucking idiot” and singer Vince Neil announced “We might be back!”
A return was made and the band played the rest of the show to thankful, less stupid Saskatchewanians.
Mars just celebrated his birthday last week and has suffered years of pain due to Ankylosing Spondylitis. An arthritic condition in which soft tissue hardens and fuses it to bone, making movement painful and often impossible.
Mars posted an update on his Twitter account the following day…
It beggars belief that people pay good money to attend a show, injure the musicians they went to see and their staff and almost ruin the whole show for an additional 6,000 plus people. A lifetime ban should be in order from the arena and a charge of assault at the very least against the stupid stage crasher.
Mars had been looking great, better than in the past few years, at the Rexall Place show in Edmonton, Alberta, attended and reviewed by TiTT just six days previous. Undoubtedly security will be on high alert and Mars will be a little more cautious for a while.
This stinks of the recent ordeal that Lamb Of God singer Randall (Randy) Blythe just went through. A fan who had got onto the stage at a Lamb Of God show, died a short while after. Blythe was accused of pushing him off the stage and manslaughter. He was later cleared of the manslaughter of teen fan Daniel Nosek, but many went through heartache and Blythe endured time in a Czech prison pre trial.
Should that not be a lesson? This person should be made accountable for his actions and charges should be laid. Musicians put themselves into the public spotlight, but that does not mean they should be assulted, grabbed and abused.
The Royal Ballet doesn’t have to deal with this shit. Why then should any other performer or artist?
Saskatoon Berries for thought?
Best wishes go out from TiTT to Rhyno and Mick Mars.

Tommy Lee has once again voiced his opinion regarding animal cruelty. This time requesting a stop to the chuckwagon racing at Calgary Stampede.
Lee, even took time to pen a letter to Calgary MLA and Alberta premier Alison Redford. Alas, Redford is quite absorbed in her world of self importance as a politician and big oil money, it is probably safe to say that Lee may as well blow hot air out of his ass.
Keep trying Tommy!!
The first time Motley Crue played in Canada, it was in Edmonton, Alberta. Nikki Sixx, founder and bassist, mentions it every time the band play the venue. Sixx always tells how proud he is of that fact. Prouder still are the mental mother fuckers that return to Rexall Place each time Motley Crue do.
This is Motley Crues biggest ever Canadian tour. It is close to sold out. Motley Crue however, are not!
This time as with every other, the Crue faithful are seen toting their offspring. The kids it seems, get a thrill from this White Trash Circus, just as much as the (semi) responsible adults in the room!
Big Wreck were the opening band on this occasion. A Canadian band, playing solid rock tunes to warm up the crowd. Would the crowd have even noticed if they had just streamed some more head banging tunes via the PA? Possibly not. They were heard to be described as “vaguely sad rock” by one in attendance. It was also noted that “every early 2000’s band has the same five guys in it” and to conclude “the drummer has more stage presence than anyone else in the band.” That is pretty descriptive. Of course, we all know that the entire audience were there for Motley Crue. Nothing more, nothing less. Whetting the appetite is going to be difficult in any arena with any band, when it comes to such a hardened and loyal fan base.
The show began with an illuminated countdown, followed by a parade through the crowd by the dancing-girls and Sixx. The crowd was not that well controlled at this time on the floor, the walkways were blocked and there was a surge. Perhaps a little more security or forethought could have been used at this time. However, no incidents were reported so, On With The Show!
The show was ON full from the minute Sixx was spotted and there were no sitters in the crowd from that point on. Support was cranked to eleven the entire show through.
Singer Vince Neil is staple when it comes to this band. He never fails to tell of his absolute love for women and the stage show allows that indulgence. Neil, a little more portly than his Girls Girls Girls, days still uses the whole stage, through the whole show while showing love for the entire audience. His voice is still as Vince as ever and he barely misses a note. Not an easy feat for your average 40-year-old. Perhaps even less easy for this 52-year-old!
Guitarist Mick Mars wanders to stage left rarely, but when he does he appears to have gained a little weight and is seen to walk a good deal easier than on the last tour. Ankylosing spondylitis, a form of inflammatory arthritis has consumed and ravaged Mars for most of his adult life. An inspiration in any way you look at it and still ripping his guitar the was only he can. Perhaps he has been following the Vince Neil diet?
What can be said about Tommy Lee that hasn’t already been said? Nothing really. Lee is still drumming up a storm, impressing younger music fans and still with the cheeky teen edge that made him so likeable, lovable and slightly rogue like, back in 1981. Lee chose a young lady to ride on his latest Drum Coaster in the later part of the show. He did mention to her prior to lift off that he would be OK with it if she were to expose her titties. Not unusual for this titty coniseur! The ride would have been a great addition to anyones Rock n Roll resume. Amusing to watch if not slighty vomit inducing. Of course Lee is well-known for drumming upside down, side ways and hanging from a wire. It is what the crowd expects. He delivers every time, hands down…or up?
Sixx, of course has always been at the forefront of this quad. Lee and himself were the founders and Sixx is still very much the king of the castle. Never wavering. Steadfast in his ideals and beliefs, not only is he now the bassist in Motley Crue and Sixx AM, he is a radio host, clothing designer, photographer, record company executive, charity worker and critically acclaimed author. Is anything missing?
Not a bad haul when you consider this is a formerly homeless, former addict from Seattle, who never had a stable home as a kid.
Even if you don’t like the music, there is a lot to be learned, just from learning about this group of (well past) middle-aged dudes. But of course you DO like the music. You wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t.
Motley Crue played a great selection of songs, from the new “well new to us,” as Neil described the song SEX to a blast from the far and distant past with songs from the early 80’s such as Live Wire and Shout At the Devil. If you are a fan you won’t be disappointed by this tour. If you want a great night out and you can, get tickets. Take your kids and educate them.
This is after all, Motley Fucking Crue!
As always, the staff at Rexall Place could not be more courteous and helpful. A big thank you to all that were on duty for the safety and assistance of the music fans of Edmonton. You are very well appreciated.
Dedicated to my good friend Bessan Oxley to lift spirits through rough times xx
